How much cover do I need? Remember to insure your belongings for their full replacement value at your destination. If you need to make a claim our insurers will only be able to deal with your claim using the values you have declared. We would advise you to take care to complete your insurance proposal form as accurately as possible. Also, don’t forget to include the cost of shipment as in the unlikely event of loss you could still be out of pocket on packing and freight costs.
Electrical Appliances Before you move, some of your electrical appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines may need special attention to ensure that they travel safely. It is important that you ask the supplier to undertake any necessary preparation or you might not be able to make a claim if anything goes wrong.
Owner Packed Items: For items that are packed by you, coverage is only against loss and not damage. The simple logic the insurance company have is that they don’t know if you packed a broken cup!!
What if things get broken? We will do everything possible to deliver your possessions in the same condition as we receive them. However, should something be lost or damaged you should follow carefully the procedure for submitting claims on the back of your certificate. Any apparent loss or damage shall be assessed jointly with the remover on delivery of the removal goods, latest one day after delivery and be claimed in writing. Any loss or damage not apparent at the time shall be reported in writing within a period of 30 days. In exceptional cases a delayed notification of loss or damage within a period of 45 days after delivery of the removal goods shall not prejudice the Insured, provided no loss or damage was apparent at the time and it is proved that such loss or damage can only have occurred during the duration of the insurance.
